What this tool does
Modern SEO uses rel attributes to tell search engines how to treat a link. This generator builds the exact <code><a></code> tag you need — with the right combination of <code>nofollow</code>, <code>sponsored</code>, and <code>ugc</code>, and the security attributes <code>noopener noreferrer</code> for links that open in a new tab. Instead of remembering the syntax, you toggle options and copy correct code.
How to use it
It is instant:
- Enter the link URL and anchor text.
- Toggle the rel attributes you need.
- Choose whether it opens in a new tab.
- Copy the generated HTML.
nofollow, sponsored, and ugc explained
Since 2019 Google recognises three link relationships. Use <code>rel="sponsored"</code> for paid or affiliate links, <code>rel="ugc"</code> for user-generated content like blog comments and forum posts, and <code>rel="nofollow"</code> as a general signal not to pass ranking credit or when you can't vouch for a link. You can combine them — for example a paid link inside a comment could be <code>rel="sponsored ugc"</code>. Regular editorial links you trust need no rel attribute at all.
Why noopener noreferrer matters
When a link opens in a new tab with <code>target="_blank"</code>, the destination page can gain limited access to the page that opened it, which is a security and performance risk. Adding <code>rel="noopener noreferrer"</code> prevents that and stops the referrer being sent. Most browsers now imply noopener for target=_blank, but adding it explicitly is still best practice, so this tool includes it automatically when you open in a new tab.
When to use each
Use sponsored on affiliate and paid placements to stay compliant with Google's guidelines and avoid link-scheme penalties. Use ugc on anything your users submit. Use nofollow for links you can't fully vouch for. Leave normal internal links and trusted editorial outbound links as plain follow links so they pass and receive ranking value naturally.
Privacy
The link is built entirely in your browser — nothing is uploaded, logged, or stored. You can generate links for private or unpublished pages without any of the URLs leaving your device.
